KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 – Medical Innovation Ventures Sdn Bhd (Mediven), Tune Protect and MyDocLab have officially launched their community care collaboration which offers Covid-19 insurance coverage and diagnostic screening through the MyDocLab mobile app.
The unique three-way collaboration is touted as a market first with the fusion of innovation, insurance protection and diagnostic screening.
Mediven test kit users can now enjoy the added bonus of insurance coverage at no additional cost.
“This initiative comes at a good time as the nation enters the endemic phase and the community at large learns to live with the virus. Our community care collaboration is designed to provide peace of mind and dual protection, all from the comfort of their mobile phone,” said Mediven Executive Director Ariff Ismail.
Users of Mediven’s ProDetect self-testing kits will receive a stipend if they test positive for category three and above Covid-19. Users will also be protected by benefits in the event of accidental death and total permanent disability. Coverage is valid for 14 days after submitting their test results via MyDocLab.
Mediven, a Penang-based medical diagnostic company that develops, manufactures and markets high-quality molecular and rapid clinical diagnostic tests, is the manufacturer of ProDetect self-test kits, approved by the Malaysia Medical Device Authority (MDA).
Explaining Tune Protect’s involvement, Group CEO Rohit Nambiar said, “Tune Protect’s partnership in this collaboration is very much in line with our business aspirations. Our goal is to make insurance simplified and accessible to everyone. Through the power of technology and through this collaboration, we are getting closer to protecting anytime, anywhere.
Mediven’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Lim Li Sze, added, “Protection is key on everyone’s mind as we navigate this harrowing and protracted healthcare challenge. This community care collaboration allows us to extend dual protection in terms of diagnostic screening and insurance coverage to protect ourselves, our families, our workplaces and the community as a whole.
MyDocLab users can also use the multifunctional digital platform to perform virtually supervised screenings for MDA-approved test kits, made possible through partnerships with selected private clinics and laboratories.
Travelers arriving in Malaysia who need to undergo a professionally administered RTK within 24 hours of arrival can also choose to perform their self-test from the comfort of their home or quarantine center via the app. Same day results anytime, anywhere are guaranteed.
In addition, the app also allows to book real-time PCR, rapid antigen and post-vaccination neutralizing antibody tests in clinics and laboratories.
Travelers can also purchase travel insurance with Covid-19 coverage, as required by the Malaysian government.
In addition, human resources managers of companies will also find the MyDocLabforWork Useful feature as it basically helps companies to manage and track the health status of their employees effectively through a hassle-free process.
Dr Lim said they are working closely with partner pharmacies to educate consumers about the dual protections of insurance and diagnostic screening offered to help them in these endemic times.
Mediven ProDetect Covid-19 test kits (saliva or nasal format) are available at most major pharmacy chains and outlets, such as Alpro, AMPM, Caring, Georgetown, Watsons, Wellings, Be Pharmacy and 7-Eleven .
